Founded over 22 years ago in November 1979 Highway Safety Systems was formed to develop the Barriermatic, a unique and patented spraying system which could apply reflective coatings to virtually any type of highway safety (crash) barrier at speeds approaching one hundred metres per minute.

The effect such treatments could have on delineation and helping improve road safety was dramatic and the Barriermatic was quickly incorporated to work in almost every European country from Norway and Sweden in the north through France, Spain and Italy in the south.

Since 1979 Highway Safety Systems has expanded its barrier treatment range to include anti-corrosion and remedial treatments of rusting barriers, including the full removal of any corrosion using in-situ shot blasting followed by the application of anti-corrosion materials.

However, we didn’t stop there. We followed up the success of the Barriermatic by adding another unique high quality product to our range with the C-Trip in-car measuring system and the Trumeter hand-held measuring wheel.

Our latest additions have been our Thermolay® and Thermomark® range of preformed thermoplastic road and school markings with which we can supply virtually and standard regulatory marking as well as specifically designed signs, symbols and graphics.

Thermomark® has been shown to be so flexible that we now use it re-mark school playgrounds providing a bright, exceptionally hard-wearing medium (up to 6-8 times harder wearing than standard paint) and a cost-effective long term solution to pupils games periods.

The most recent application for Thermolay® has been corporate logos allowing marketing and advertising to be taken that one step further. Thermolay® has shown the flexibility required to provide a high quality end product that stands the test of time.
